Drop 7 Review!

Posted by carolynn7 on February 12, 2009

Also a first review by Carolynn T. a.k.a, carolynn7.  Today i’m going to tell you about a great game called Drop 7. It was developed by Area/Code Inc. This one has me coming back to it again and again. I have a ton of games on my iPod Touch, but Drop 7 is addicting! The App Store page calls it a cross between Tetris and Sudoku. I’m a Sudoku freak, so after reading that, I had to pick it up.

Drop7 beginning screen

There are 3 different modes in the game: Normal, Hardcore and Sequence.  Normal mode is basically the regular game.  In hardcore mode, you level up much faster making the game harder. In sequence mode you get the same number of discs as everyone else for the ultimate test of strategy.  There is a high scores table under the menu in the game.  Very well written instructions are also included in game.

So basically game play goes like this. You get discs with numbers on them. You drop them into a 7×7 grid. The disc disappears whenever the number on the disc matches the amount of discs in it’s current row or column. There are evil gray discs that actually have numbers buried in them. You have to break the numbers out by making discs disappear while touching the gray discs. The dots at the bottom of the screen tell you how many discs you have to break until the next level. Now there is major strategy here because where you drop your discs is very important. If you can create chains of discs breaking you can get awesome high scores.  The graphics in this game are crisp and clear. The sound is easy going and pleasing. Nothing annoying here, no problems running the game or freezes.

Drop7 game over

Overall impression of this game is: One that is staying on my front page for a very long time. The replay value is extremely high as I am hopelessly addicted to this game.  This is the first iPhone/iPod Touch game for Area Code Inc. I must say to them, “Keep up the great work!!!”  I give it 5 of 5 stars.  It’s currently available for $4.99 in the app store. Link to Drop7

Should I buy it or not? YES

Is it worth it? Yes, but at this price I would like to see a Global Scoreboard added.

Review of the Day- Air Hockey

Posted by andyl19 on February 12, 2009

Very simple, but a whole lot of fun. That is what Air Hockey by Acceleroto is.  Air Hockey is a one player and two player hockey game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Although you might think air hockey games for the iPhone are boring and dull, that is not the case for this game.

Air Hockey is certainly one of the simpliest and best games available for the iPhone. Here is why: There are six modes in Air Hockey,( That’s right six! ) Kiddie, Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, and INSANE! The  reason why I love Air Hockey the most is that your able to play with two pucks or one for extreme fun. To win you must be the first to score 7 points on your opponent.

The sounds in Air Hockey are just great. They make you feel like your actually in a real arcade playing against one of your buddies! The goals and mallets are the perfect size and the feel of this game is incredible. Your eyes will feel the pressure as your trying to keep up with the rocketing puck and to try to score goals as quickly as possible. Overall Air Hockey scores a goal from me and is the game every iPhone needs. 4.5 /5,  4.5 Stars
